to all Club members and friends

I always feel it's a shame when you leave a role that you don't get much of an opportunity to say thanks to those who have helped you. So with the permission of my successor as Chairman of the Club, Steve Collier, I would like to place on record my appreciation for everyone involved with the club during my tenure as Chairman.

As always there were those who I spent more time working with and in that category are Thomas (Shardlow), Peachy (Peter Greenwood), JG (John Gale), Shag (David Klewin), Marie (Bush) and Dave (Craig Chaplin). In addition the coaches and captains and overseas players should also be mentioned for making the majority of my tenure an enjoyable experience.

Of course, I have regrets and foremost is the loss of our WEPL status after such a long period. Like many clubs who suffer relegation we will now enter a period of change, I know Steve and the new committee want to keep the club at the heart of the community whilst also trying to encourage people to play for Corsham for the love of the game. I wish them every success.

Finally like all 'amateur' sports clubs we rely on volunteers and I would appeal to all members to think about what they can do to help at the club. If just 25 more people gave a couple of hours it would greatly help to spread the load of running the club. Please have a think about the skills you have (don't worry we won't ask you to suddenly become plumbers or electricians), but assistance with teas, a bit of maintenance, or help on the ground would go a long way. Please e-mail corshamcricket@btinternet.com if you are willing to be included in such a group and you will hear more about how it will operate shortly.

As many of you know, I hope to be travelling this year (if I sell my house!!,) but I will always make time to call into Corsham and the ground to catch up over a pint.

Have a good season.

Neville D
