Help required to run the Club

The Club needs your help!

I have in the past mentioned how the present committee is getting old and how several of us are filling more than one role. Well this season things appear to be coming to a head with Thomas stepping back from his role after 30 unpaid years (although the old chap still puts in a lot of hours on the ground) and the remaining committee and non-committee support roles being increasingly undertaken by a core of about six people – THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE!

I find it disappointing that as a club, with an increasing requirement for coaches at all ages (especially at U9 and U11 level for the 2017 season), not one of our first or second XI players is a practicing coach.

This is not a problem that is going away. If everybody ignores this appeal we will be left with a decreasing number of people willing to run the club and we will have to start cutting back on our activities. Even if you cannot commit to a full time role, a number of part time volunteers would go a long way towards solving them problem.

Volunteers we need:

Committee members – have a look at the roles listed on the nominations form in the club house.

Team manager - Attend selection, post teams on website and sort out replacements for players who drop out.

Coaches – At all levels but especially across the academy. Club pays for your qualification and associated membership requirements.

Scorers – At all levels but especially across the academy. Club pays for your qualification and associated membership requirements.

Tea Hosts – Again at all levels. Make and serve tea. Club pays for all food purchased.

Administrators – To help organise Academy league fixtures, contact players, arrange transport to away games, arrange for umpires and scorers, keep leagues informed of fixture changes and to post results.

Please don’t ignore this request, if we all did that the club would very shortly become unmanageable
