Still seeking volunteers for the roles of Fixture Secretary and Bar Manager

Following his letter to all members last month regarding the Club’s failure to find any volunteers willing to fill vacant Committee positions, which was later posted on local social media outlets, Chairman, Steve Collier, is pleased to inform members that applications for the posts of Club Secretary and Membership Secretary have now been received.

An offer to undertake the role of Club Secretary has been received from a new member, MARK KINGTON, while current member, PAUL CLIFFORD has offered to take on the role of Membership Secretary. Please find below some information about Mark. His photograph can be found in the 'Officials' page of 'Photos' under the home page menu item 'Videos & Photos'. The Chairman would like to thank both Mark and Paul for stepping up in the Club’s hour of need.

Appointment of Club officers would normally require a Special General Meeting (SGM) of Club members to ratify the appointments but given the circumstances and that the 2019 season is nearly upon us, the Committee would like to assume that you will have no objection to either of these appointments and forego the calling of an SGM. If any member has any objection to this assumption, please let the Chairman know by March 16th 2019. Please note that according to Club rule 14, it will be necessary to receive at least ten such objections to initiate the calling of an SGM.

Posted on behalf of the Club Chairman, Steve Collier.

MARK KINGTON started playing cricket as a leg spin bowler for Pucklechurch circa 1977. He joined the RAF in 1982 and, due to a majority of artificial tracks, concentrated on batting. After a few years he went from No 11 to opening the innings.

Over the years he has played in the Bristol & District, Somerset and Wiltshire leagues plus many RAF stations in the UK plus Cyprus and Germany. He attended trials for RAF Cyprus and British Forces Germany.

He lives with his wife in Biddestone and both work locally.
