Tom Davies is riding in support of 'Help for Heroes'

Tom Davies will be departing for France to take part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride for Help for Heroes - with the focus on The Normandy Landings.

This challenge will entail riding from Sainte-Mere-Eglise to Paris over five days via Bayeux, The Normandy Beaches, Pegasus Bridge, Arromanches and Evreux.

Each day will be around 70/75 miles of cycling (120km) giving a total of around 350 miles. Further information about the route is shown below and anyone wishing to donate to this very worthy cause should CLICK HERE to go to his JustGiving page .

Please do donate to a fantastic charity and what should be a good challenge!

"To commemorate 75 years since the D-Day landings in June I will be undertaking the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in aid of Help for Heroes. Help for Heroes is a charity set up to aid the rehabilitation of injured service men and women.

This support and rehabilitation supports both the service men and women dealing with life changing injuries that are visible or not visible by guiding them and offering them and their families the support that they need and may not necessarily get from other sources.

In June I will set off for a week of cycling following a route through Northern France starting at Sainte-mere-Eglise ending up some 300+ miles later in Paris.

This year the route is as follows:
Day 1 - Sainte-mere-Eglise - Bayeux: Via Omaha Beach with most of the focus on the American involvement.
Day 2 - Bayeux - Caen: Stopping at the Bayeux war cemetery before moving onto the D-Day landings on Gold and Juno Beaches, before finishing with a ceremony Arromanches and cycling into Caen.
Day 3 - Caen - Lisieux: Emphasis on the airborne involvement with a visit to Pegasus bridge before cycling to Lisieux.
Day 4 - Lisieux - Evreux: Focus on the resistance and the impact on French civilians and the local countryside. Visiting Bernay which was liberated by the Canadians in 1944.
Day 5 - Evreux - Paris: Stopping at La Rouche-Guyon, site of Rommel's HQ and Vernon ending up in Paris.

Please donate to help this great charity in their work to help them continue the work and support they give to our wounded service men and women."
