Dear Cricket Clubs of Wiltshire,
As you may be aware, this season Burbage CC began playing their 3rd and 4th XI games on a new pitch adjacent to the Red Lion Field. This has been a long term ambition for the club that has finally become a reality!
Over the past 5 years they have run a small but very successful 6 a Side on the Saturday after the very popular beer festival (www.burbagefestival.co.uk), which is now in its 19th year. To celebrate the opening of our new pitch they have decided to do something different this year and expand the tournament, using both pitches simultaneously.
They are looking for a total of 12 teams to participate in the tournament, starting at 10am on Saturday 5th September. The winners will take away a cash prize of £150, with the runner up receiving £50.
Burbage will arrange for a panel of umpires to be present, so all you must provide is a scorer for each of your games and 6 of your finest sloggers!
The cost to enter the tournament will be £30 a team, which must be paid to Burbage by August 1st 2015. In the event of a wash out, they will refund any entry fees.
For your £30 entry fee the club will also including entry into the Beer Festival for the Saturday, boasting 40 guest beers and ciders, BBQ, hog roast and live music. If transport is an issue after sampling the beverages on offer, you are more than welcome to pitch a tent and stay the night!
