Free 'taster' session and Level 1 course at Beversbrook Sports Facility, Calne

The Wiltshire Association of Cricket Officials is running a Scorer Taster session on Sunday 27th September 2015 at Beversbrook Sports Facility, Calne from 9.30am to 12 noon. The session is FREE and will be a practical introduction to ECB ACO methods of scoring. It would be an ideal starting point for anyone interested in learning to score OR for someone with some experience who might be considering attending the Level 1 course (a decision to continue on to the Level 1 can be made at the end of the Taster).

The full Level 1 Scorer Course takes place at the same venue on the following five Sundays – 4th/11th/18th/25th October and 1st November – with each session being slightly longer: 9.00am to 12noon. The course will be largely practical, scoring from video or animation, with some work on scoring technique and relevant cricket law. The fifth session is the assessment – which is not at all scary, being 80% practical and 20% theory.

The full course costs £80 – this is excellent value for money because it includes all the course materials, a scorer’s bag with selection of contents (pens, pencil, ruler, etc), a copy of ‘Tom Smith’s Laws of Cricket’, an MCC Laws book and reduced membership of ECB ACO – plus half the cost will be refunded by WEPL or WCCL to the clubs of successful candidates.
Further information on both the Taster and the Level 1 Course can be found on the Wiltshire Cricket Ltd website here; http://www.wiltshirecricket.co.uk/waco/training/scorers/ or by contacting the course tutor Sally Pitman on candspitman@btinternet.com or 01380 726145 or 07828 261592.
