Law changes have implications for the scoring of ALL cricket matches

Wiltshire ACO is holding a session on 'scoring cricket matches under the new Laws'. The publication by the MCC of the new Laws of Cricket came into effect in October 2017. These changes have implications for the scoring of ALL cricket matches.

The session is open to anyone who is likely to score at cricket matches in 2018 – members of ECB ACO, non-members who score in WEPL or WCCL, or players who may be required to score this season, even if only for a few overs.

The session will take place at Beversbrook Sports Facility, Calne (home of Calne CC, SN11 9FL) on Sunday 8th April from 9.00am to 12 noon.

As well as explaining the consequences of the new Laws for scorers, the final part of the session will cover DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method – as required for WEPL clubs). You can attend the DLS part as an observer; however WEPL scorers should bring their laptops with 32 bit Java Runtime Environment installed (this can be installed free from the Java website but note it must be the 32 bit version, not the 64 bit version which Windows 10 will automatically try to install). Those not interested in DLS are welcome to leave early.

Participants should bring paper and pencil for notes.

This is not a formal ECB ACO course – it is an advice session arranged and run by Wiltshire ACO for ANY scorer. There is no course fee – however a donation of £2 per person would help us to cover the hire of the venue.

If you have further questions and/or would like to sign up to attend on 8th April, please let Sally Pitman (Wiltshire ACO Scorers Officer) know by phone on 01380 726145 or 07828 261592 or by e-mail at 'candspitman@btinternet.com'.
