Approximately fifty players and supporters assembled in the Casino-themed Clubhouse on 8th November 2025 for the annual end of season Awards Presentation.
Club President, NEVILLE DENNETT, welcomed those attending and gave particular thanks to the caterers for their splendid meal and to the bar staff. He thanked those present for their support of the event.
He then passed the microphone on to JOHN GALE (JG) for the presentation of commemorative scorecards.
He began by thanking JOSH STANLEY, CHRIS GRACE and SCOTT FLEMING for their reviews of the season that appear in the pamphlet which he hoped everyone would take home and read at their leisure. He went on to publicise the annual volume of ‘Performance Stats’ he produces at the end of the season in which there are details of all matches and player performances, team by team.
He then moved on to the presentation of commemorative scorecards for maiden centuries or five wickets in an innings. He said that in keeping with similar records to be found at Test Match grounds, he had been maintaining a record of centurions and 5-fers that been witnessed at Station Road since 2000. He was pleased to report that there had been five centuries and four 5-fers added during the 2025 season which were listed among those shown in the pamphlet. He had prepared records of their entire seasons for the two overseas players, LLEWELLYN JOHNSON and TIM MULLANE, which had been presented after the final match of the season before they returned home.
There were two maiden centuries for which he had prepared commemorative scorecards. The first of these went to CONOR ANDREW who was recognised as last year’s ‘Most Improved’ player and scored his maiden century for the Club’s 3rd XI at the St. Barnabas playing field.
The second maiden century commemorative scorecard was awarded to STUART WARNER who scored 111 against Swindon 1sts in rescuing the 2nd XI from a perilous 51 for 5 to an eventual total of 226 all out which was enough to win the match by 26 runs.
His match-winning 6 for 31 for the 2nds at Hinton Charterhouse 1sts earned BEN OAKLEY a commemorative scorecard as did NED JONES’ career best return of 7 for 12.
JONATHAN PARKER was presented with a WEPL ‘Certificate of Merit’ for his 7 for 35 that was collected at the recent WEPL Presentation Evening which recognised the best bowling return in the Wiltshire Division.
In addition, JG had prepared detailed performance records over the season by three Academy players who each made their Senior debuts for the Club and scored over 1000 runs combined in all matches played for the Academy, Wiltshire Cricket Board and CCC Senior teams during 2025.
The first was awarded to HARRY CHAPLIN who scored a total of 1658 runs in the season as well as taking 61 wickets (1345 Academy runs which included his maiden Academy century + 37 wickets, 221 County runs + 21 wickets, and 92 Senior runs + 3 wickets).
The next was awarded to TED McCRUM who scored a total of 1614 runs together with 50 wickets (1155 + 40 Academy, 190 County, 269 + 10 Senior).
The last was awarded to ZACH FLEMING who scored a total of 1357 runs and took 41 wickets (1099 + 27 Academy, 138 + 5 County, 120 + 9 Senior).
Finally, marking his retirement from the 1st XI captaincy, a commemorative list of all the matches in which he was indicated as captain was presented to TOM FOLEY.
The microphone was then handed to PETER DENNETT acting in his role of Director of Cricket, to run through the individual awards for the 2025 season:
Peter began this section of the evening by introducing Life Member, JOHN-PAUL STORY (JPS), who reminded those present that just over a year ago, the club lost one of its best ever players. MARTIN SCOTT was a Club stalwart over many seasons, as player, supporter and Life Member. He was a dependable opening bat, and a remarkable wicketkeeper, not only for the Club, but also for Wiltshire and occasionally, Somerset (although Martin was unable to pursue the life of a professional cricketer). To mark his association with the club, Martin had left a financial legacy in his will which will help to improve facilities in the Clubhouse. In his memory, it was thought fitting that a new award should be inaugurated that recognised the specialised skill that Martin possessed. In a close contest, the new MARTIN SCOTT AWARD for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper went to TIM MULLANE, who accepted the award with a video message.
JPS handed back to Peter to continue the presentations, the first of which was the S. Wreford Hill Trophy for the Batsman scoring most Runs in League Matches. Scoring 561 runs, the award went to LLEWELLYN JOHNSON who also accepted the award by video message.
The Ramsbottom Trophy for the bowler taking most wickets in League matches was awarded to AHMED JAMAL in taking 35 wickets.
The Bill Miles Trophy for the Best Young Player was retained by OLLIE SAUNDERS.
The Ken Kibbey Trophy for the Most Improved Player was awarded to BEN OAKLEY.
The Director of Cricket Award went to AJAY MOMI who scored 788 runs with two centuries and four half-centuries during the season.
The Fourth XI Player of the Year was awarded to BEN DRAPER who scored 219 runs and took 13 wickets.
The Third XI Player of the Year went to NED JONES for his 300 RUNS and 24 wickets.
The Second XI Player of the Year was awarded to JONATHAN PARKER for his 30 wickets and 108 runs.
The First XI Player of the Year went to ALFIE JOHNSON who accepted his award with a video message from Australia. He took 24 wickets and scored 226 runs.
The Club Person of the Year was awarded to JOHN GALE.
The evening was rounded off with music DJ’d by PETER TURNER while attendees took advantage of the three ‘Casino’ tables provided.
The Club would like to thank everyone that attended and in particular to those who contributed to the preparation of the evening.
