Further to information posted here during October, the Wiltshire County Scorers' Officer (Andy Nott) has now planned two cricket scoring courses, details below.
If anyone in the club or community is interested in learning how to score a cricket match, or wish to increase cricket scoring skills and knowledge, then one or both of these courses will be ideal.

Introduction to Scoring
Course date: Sunday 21st January 2024
Course time: 9am to 1pm
Venue: Beversbrook Sports Facility, Beversbrook Lane, Calne, SN11 9FL

This is an ideal course for complete beginners or as a refresher for anyone returning to scoring. It covers the very basics of scoring using a traditional paper scorebook and is ideal for anyone who wants to get started in scoring. The aim of this course is to identify and practise the basic skills with which to record a cricket match. It doesn’t cover everything, but it will give you the tools to get started, including: scoring record (scoresheet), umpire’s signals, scoring symbols, and scoresheet balancing. Please note, this course does NOT include electronic scoring. Free parking is available. Level access into the building. Hot and cold drinks available from the bar area.
Club Scorer Course
Course begins on: Sunday 4th February 2024 and continues weekly until Sunday 3rd March 2024
Course time: 9am to 12 noon each week
Venue: Beversbrook Sports Facility, Beversbrook Lane, Calne, SN11 9FL

Club Scorer is the course for anyone wanting scoring on a regular basis and is the only course to comprehensively teach you how to score. This course is suitable for complete beginners and existing scorers who want to improve their skills. On completion of the course you will receive an ECB ACO Club Scorer attendance certificate and one year's membership of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials. The course runs for five consecutive Sunday mornings (4/11/18/25 Feb and 3 March). You need to attend all five sessions to complete the course. It is the full ECB ACO course, ideal for those with some scoring experience. Complete beginners are advised to attend the Introduction to Scoring course on 21st January 2024 first. Please bring your usual scoring equipment (pens, etc), although we will have some available for you to borrow, and pen and paper for notes. Please note, this course does NOT include electronic scoring. Free parking is available. Level access into the building. Hot and cold drinks available from the bar area.
