ANNUAL PRESENTATION OF AWARDS 2024
Approximately fifty players and supporters assembled in the Clubhouse on 2nd November 2024 for the annual end of season Awards Presentation.
With ANDY DAY looking after the barbecue augmented by salad prepared by GILL and JO DENNETT, Club President, NEVILLE DENNETT, welcomed those attending. He mentioned that the Club had lost three great servants during the season and asked for a respectful moment of reflection to mark the passing of SARAH TODHUNTER, DAVID SMITH and MARTIN SCOTT.

He then passed the microphone on to JOHN GALE who added a few words of his own personal recollection of MARTIN SCOTT before moving on to thank CHRIS GRACE and LUKE CURTIS for their reviews of the season that appear in the booklet which he hoped players would take home and read at their leisure. He went on to publicise the annual volume of ‘Performance Stats’ he produces at the end of the season in which there are details of all matches and player performances, team by team.

He then moved on to the presentation of commemorative scorecards for maiden centuries or five wickets in an innings. He said that in keeping with similar records to be found at Test Match grounds, he had been maintaining a record of centurions and 5-fers that been witnessed at Station Road since 2000. He was pleased to report that there had been a record number added during the 2024 season with four centuries and six 5-fers. Of these there were two maiden centuries and three maiden 5-fers. In addition, there was a maiden century scored at Whitley.

Those that were present at the end of season send off for LAKSHAN GAMAGE will have witnessed the presentation of a commemorative scorecard for his remarkable and memorable innings of 156 in a T20 quarter-final match against Winsley.

Playing his one and only match for the 4th XI during the season, SPENCER DYMOND-HALL scored an unbeaten 156 to earn his scorecard. However, for his outstanding season in which he scored a total of 1421 runs at an average of 53, RYAN THOMAS was awarded a commemorative record of the season which contained a ball-by-ball record of each of his four centuries together with a list of every innings played.

Framed scorecards for maiden 5-fers were handed out to LIAM BOULTON for his 7 for 21 for the 2nds v Marlborough; to MIKE REYNOLDS for his 7 for 41 for the 1sts against Dumbleton; and to JAMES DEVITT for his 5 for 11 for the Midweek T20 XI against Chippenham T20.

The microphone was then handed to Director of Cricket, PETER DENNETT to run through the individual awards for the 2024 season:
Ken Kibbey Trophy for the Most Improved Player
CONNOR ANDREW.
S. Wreford Hill Trophy for the Batsman scoring most Runs in League Matches
RYAN THOMAS (887 runs).
Ramsbottom Trophy for the Bowler taking most Wickets in League Matches
TOM FOLEY (38 wickets).
Bill Miles Trophy for the Best Young Player

Before handing back to the President, Peter announced a new award: ‘Director of Cricket’ Award. This went to RYAN THOMAS for his season’s contribution.

The President announced the Club Person of the Year was TONY JACOBS

The evening was rounded off with music and dancing to the 'HONEY FUNK BAND'.

The Club would like to thank everyone that attended and in particular to those who contributed to the preparation of the evening.
