Corsham Wyverns advance to the 2020 Wiltshire Wallop final by defeating defending Wallop Champions, Potterne, in a bowl-out that became necessary after heavy rain during the afternoon washed out any chance of a match at the Station Road ground.
With Tom Foley absent through work, Tom Horrell stepped up to the captaincy, and after winning the toss decided that Corsham should bowl first in the 11-man bowl-out.
Horrell, Tom Young, Luke Curtis, and Tom Weaver for Corsham and Tahir Afridi, Basil Akram and Josh De Souza for Potterne all missed the stumps with their deliveries, but Potterne took the lead when Sean Montgomery became the first to hit.
Josh Stanley made it one-all, but the lead went back to Potterne when Nick Davies was successful. Charley Reed and Martin Roberts made the score 3-2 in the home team's favour, but after Ben Higton's miss, Olly Jackson brought the scores level.
Potterne edged ahead when Jack Colyer hit after a miss by Stuart Warner, but Sam Thomson brought the teams level again. Corsham's last two, Jack Humphreys and Mike Myatt both missed as did Potterne's Captain, Neil Clark, and Dave Bromley, so it left Jack Hurley with a chance to win it for Potterne, but he was unsuccessful which meant the players bowled again in a sudden death round.
Tom Horrell stepped up and this time bowled a perfect delivery that hit the middle stump. Potterne turned to the experienced Tahir Afridi to redress the balance, but his delivery fell wide of the leg stump to leave Corsham winners!
Thanks to the 11-men of Potterne who made the trip to Corsham for the bowl-out, Paul Jackson for managing and umpiring, John Gale for keeping score, and to Scott Fleming for the team photo and video of Tom Horrell's winning delivery
Corsham Wyverns will meet the winners of the Shrewton v Swindon semi-final which takes place on Friday 28th August. The date and venue of the final has yet to be determined.
