Saturday Night (9th May) saw Corsham CC hold its first virtual race night, hosted by Peter 'Honest Pedro' Dennett - the punters friend(?!).
More than 25 people logged in via 'Zoom' to participate in the racing where, after a brief description of the field, they were able to place their bets on a variety of events raging from short flat sprint races to longer National Hunt events. There was even Afghan hound racing!
Eight races were held and after nearly three hours of coercion, persuasion, and somewhat dubious Turf Accountancy practices, £300 was raised for club funds.
The pictures shown in the PDF file attached show some of the participants: the picture of the 'Zoom' screen, includes 'Honest Pedro' and 'AP McCoy' (aka Scott Fleming) who looked like they were auditioning for a role in 'Peaky Blinders', Jacko (Paul Jackson) apparently sunning himself on a Barbadian beach, and Sybil (Gill Dennett) who obviously thought it was Ladies day! The undoubted comedic star of the show was Crusher (Andrew Davis) sporting his lockdown hair cut!
The next online event is a General Knowledge Quiz on Saturday 16th of May. Participation is limited to 40 Households ('Zoom' limit) with the organisers suggesting an entrance donation of £5/household (more if you are feeling generous!). All entrance fees/donations will be passed onto the Club.
