Wanton destruction of two of the Japanese Flowering Cherry trees that line the boundary perimeter were found to have been perpetrated this week. The branches broken off by the vandals were then strewn over the adjacent outfield.
In addition, the smaller of the two gates at the Clubhouse entrance to the ground was found to be hanging off it hinges, and the bottom hinge bracket pulled out of its mounting. More than likely the damage will have been caused by persons unknown using the gate as some sort of entertainment.
These incidents are the latest in a long line of acts of vandalism inflicted on the Club over a number of years. Quite why the hooligans resort to this sort of 'entertainment' is beyond comprehension.
The details of this latest incident have been reported to the police. Anyone who can identify those responsible for the damage should notify the Club or the Police.
